Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto Get High Marks for Livability

Of the about 10,000 cities globally, 3 Canadian cities were named among the world’s most livable cities for 2023.

Become A Canadian says Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto made great comebacks in 2023 to be named among the top 10 most livable cities.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) provides an annual report of the best places to live. The recently released 2023 edition of the Global Livability Index covers 172 cities.

According to Become A Canadian, the ranking is always based on certain criteria, including stability, infrastructure, healthcare, culture, and education.

What positions do Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto fall on the list?

It is great to see that out of 172 cities covered by the 2023 edition of the report, three Canadian cities make the list of the top 10 best cities to live in the world.

While the index places Vienna, Austria, as the best city to live in the world, Copenhagen in Denmark comes in as the second best city.

On the third and fourth positions of the best cities to live in the world list are Melbourne and Sydney, two Australian cities.

Vancouver, Canada, followed closely in the fifth position and Zurich, Switzerland, in the sixth place on the list.

The seventh position jointly belongs to Calgary, another city in Canada, and Geneva, Switzerland.

Toronto, Canada, is the next Canadian city in the world’s top 10 most livable cities list and comes in ninth position.

Osaka, Japan, made the number 10 position of the world’s top 10 most livable cities.

An expert from Become A Canadian says it is good to see these Canadian cities move up the rankings significantly post-pandemic.
